“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others” (2 Timothy 2:2).
We FOLLOW Jesus in our weekly habit of church attendance as we worship, hear from God’s Word through expository teaching, and observe the sacraments along with fellow believers. We CONNECT with others in a Community Group or ABF (Adult Bible Fellowship) where we spend time discussing the sermon or other teaching, supporting one another, and enjoying fellowship. But how do we MAKE (disciples)?
The pastors and leaders of EFCCL have long had a desire to create a “culture of disciple making” in our church. Discipleship Groups (D-Groups) is a tool by which we hope to make that desire a reality.
What is a D-Group?
A Discipleship Group, or D-Group, is a gender-specific group of 3-5 believers that meet weekly for 9-12 months for accelerated spiritual transformation.
What is the Focus of a D-Group?
The focus of a D-Group is to grow in your relationship with Jesus through the exercising of the 5 spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, reflection through journaling, Scripture memory, accountability, and prayer. Through these disciplines, you will come to know the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in new and meaningful ways, all while growing in relationship with your fellow group members.
Why Should I Be In One?
Because Jesus commanded us to “Go therefore and make disciples…” and this is a new option for doing just that! D-Groups will help you understand what it means to be a disciple and how to make disciples for Jesus.
What’s The Commitment Level of a D-Group?
D-Groups are an intensive season of spiritual growth with a high level of commitment, with an equally tremendous benefit to those who participate. D-Groups will meet weekly (for 60-90 minutes) over a period of 9-12 months. Every 8 weeks or so, the group may reevaluate and see how the process is going for each member.
