The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Allen & Heath, the manufacturer of our 2 sound consoles, was bought out this week by D&M. This is the same company that owns Denon, Marantz, (both companies make consumer and DJ products) and Calrec (a semi-big player in the broadcast world).

I fear this is bad news. In the past few years, the audio world has had a lot of mergers and acquisitions and most of them have resulted in worse products, lower QC, and bad customer support. But, we'll see.

If you want to read the marketing departments spit out their comments, read this FOH article.

Oh yeah, Pastor Doug's mic is broken. There is a short somewhere in the middle of the cable. We won't have a new one in time for Sunday, so he will use a regular mic. The nice thing is that the new version has a replaceable cable. So when this happens again, we just have to replace the cable for 1/6 of the cost of the entire mic.
