Yeah!

We are finally moved in!! Everything went great on Saturday; we were done a lot quicker than we planned. We even were able to go to Pablo's for dinner. Good stuff. :)

At work, my office is still a mess. The window leaks water when it rains, so I've had to take everything out of the office cubicle that I had in the corner and put it in the rest of the room. We'll see how long it takes to fix.

Doug's new mic is sounding a lot better. I know visually it's more noticeable than the previous, but the sound quality is a lot better.

I've got the Women's Tea this Saturday. It's a pretty easy set-up with just 1 guest speaker, and a mom and daughter singing to back-up tracks.

Hope you guys are doing well.

A little of this, a little of that

Our baptistry is broken. :( I'm sure this doesn't come as a surprise to most of you. Last weekend during baptisms, Bonnie's office was being sprinkled. The plumber is in today, but it will probably need to air dry for a few days. So the baptistry will be open this weekend.

We have the new mic for Doug. It's a little different sounding than the previous one, so it will take a few weeks to dial in the sound. But once we do, it should sound better.

We have a new place/system for the batteries. Make sure I show you.

I got a new desk in my office. It's a nice wood, old one. Wayne & Carol Rees are moving next week and don't need it anymore. I like it.

That's about it. Jen and I are really excited about finally moving this Saturday. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much.

The Way Things Are

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Allen & Heath, the manufacturer of our 2 sound consoles, was bought out this week by D&M. This is the same company that owns Denon, Marantz, (both companies make consumer and DJ products) and Calrec (a semi-big player in the broadcast world).

I fear this is bad news. In the past few years, the audio world has had a lot of mergers and acquisitions and most of them have resulted in worse products, lower QC, and bad customer support. But, we'll see.

If you want to read the marketing departments spit out their comments, read this FOH article.

Oh yeah, Pastor Doug's mic is broken. There is a short somewhere in the middle of the cable. We won't have a new one in time for Sunday, so he will use a regular mic. The nice thing is that the new version has a replaceable cable. So when this happens again, we just have to replace the cable for 1/6 of the cost of the entire mic.

Now what?

So the busy season is now done. Thanks to all of you for helping with the busy month of March with the women's conference, Catalyst, kid's musical, Good Friday, and Easter.

So now I get to tackle the pile that grew the past month, clean up my e-mail, clean up old video files, tackle some internal computer plans, and finally clean and re-organize my office!

I think that's enough to keep me busy. ;)
